Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn | Chief Executive Officer
Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Danajamin.

Zulqarnain graduated from Harvard University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Prior to his appointment at Danajamin, he was the Chief Corporate Strategist at Affin Bank Berhad.

Zulqarnain started his career with UBS Warburg as an equity research analyst, recruited under the UBS’s global Graduate Training Programme. Subsequently, he joined the Corporate Planning team in Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s debt resolution agency established during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. After Danaharta, Zulqarnain joined the investment banking team at CIMB before being seconded to the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee (CDRC). At CDRC, he was part of the five-man team which mediated RM29 billion of corporate debt restructuring under the ambit of Bank Negara Malaysia.

Zulqarnain had also held other positions previously including Director in the Symphony House Berhad group and Executive Director at Bolton Berhad. At Symphony House Berhad, Zulqarnain was responsible for corporate finance and strategic planning. In Bolton, he was the Executive Director responsible for accounting, corporate finance, treasury, legal affairs and communications.

Khoo Boo Hock | Deputy Chief Executive
Khoo Boo Hock is the Deputy Chief Executive of Danajamin. He was one of the key personnel involved in developing the initial conceptualisation of the need for a Financial Guarantee Institution for the Government of Malaysia which led to the creation of Danajamin.

Prior to joining Danajamin, he was the Head of Infrastructure and Utilities Ratings in RAM Rating Services Bhd, Malaysia’s bond rating agency, where he spent about 11 years of his career. During his tenure in RAM, Boo Hock was also seconded to the consultancy arm (RAM Consultancy Services) where he was involved in structuring financial strategies for local and international projects. He also spearheaded the Project Advisory consulting thrust for RAM Consulting, completing several advisory works for local and international private sector clients as well as for the Government of Malaysia. Prior to his secondment, Boo Hock was the Senior Manager of Structured Finance driving the Structured Finance ratings business for RAM.

Apart from RAM, Boo Hock had also served in other organizations including MSC Venture Corporate, a venture capital company, as chief analyst and Intel Technology (M) Sdn Bhd as Production Superintendent.

Boo Hock holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors, Cum Laude) degree in Information Systems from Mount Union College and a Master of Business Administration from Ohio University in the USA.

Tracy Ong | Executive Director
Tracy Ong is the Executive Director of Danajamin, overseeing the Underwriting and Legal Divisions.

Tracy has more than 25 years of experience in corporate banking and debt capital markets. She last served as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Banking at Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”). As Head of Corporate Banking, Tracy formulated strategies and drove the corporate business of the bank which had a total asset base of over RM40 billion. During her 25-year tenure with the Maybank Group, she had also held various other positions, including Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Debt Markets, at Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad (now known as Maybank Investment Bank).

Tracy holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hon) from University of Malaya and a Master of Business Administration from University of Strathclyde, UK.

Latifah Abdul Latiff | Director, Underwriting
Latifah Abdul Latiff is the Director, Underwriting of Danajamin. She heads the Underwriting division, which is the core division that evaluates all applications to Danajamin for financial guarantee insurance.

Latifah has vast experience in Corporate Banking. She started her career in Southern Bank Berhad (now CIMB Bank Berhad) as a credit officer.  Subsequently, she joined Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad (now Alliance Investment Bank Berhad) in 1992 where she served 14 years in the Corporate Banking Department and was involved, amongst others, in the structuring of financing requirements of various corporate clients of the bank.  Her last position in the Alliance Banking Group was General Manager, Corporate Banking.

Prior to joining Danajamin, Latifah was with The Bank of Nova Scotia Berhad where she was responsible for the setting up and overall management of a new branch.  Her responsibilities include business development, loan structuring and evaluation as well as operations.  During her tenure, Latifah had successfully turned the new branch profitable within a period of one and a half years where loan assets and total deposits grew significantly.

Latifah holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Finance, from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA.

K Balasingam | Director, Risk Management
K Balasingam is the Director, Risk Management of Danajamin, responsible for the overall risk management framework of the Company. 

Prior to joining Danajamin, he served in Standard Chartered Bank for 30 years in various capacities including Head Global Clients, Head Financial Institutions, Senior Vice President & Senior Credit Officer in the Philippines office.  His last position in Standard Chartered Bank was Chief Risk Officer in the Indonesian office.

Bala holds a Master of Business Administration degree majoring in Finance from The University of Hull, England and is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Bankers, London. He is also the holder of the Financial Studies Diploma, a postgraduate degree level course that is the highest professional banking qualification awarded by The Chartered Institute of Bankers, London.

Ahlan Nasri Nasir | Director, Legal
Ahlan Nasri Nasir is the Director, Legal of Danajamin. Ahlan read law at St Anne’s College, Oxford University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence.  He also holds a Certified Diploma in Accounting & Finance, ACCA and the Certificate in Legal Practice.

Ahlan started his career in Shell Malaysia as a Marketing Executive and later as a Legal Officer. He then served briefly in Proton Berhad as a Purchasing Manager. After Proton, Ahlan joined legal practice firstly in Abdul Raman Saad & Associates and then in Zain & Co.

Immediately prior to joining Danajamin, Ahlan was a Partner in Zaid Ibrahim & Co. Throughout his legal practice, he had advised clients on mergers and acquisitions, including take over implications, restructurings, fund raising, private debt securities issuance and general corporate issues.  Among the notable transactions he was involved in are the merger exercise of Sime Darby Berhad with Golden Hope Plantations Berhad  and Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad; Linde AG, Germany’s  mandatory general offer of  Malaysian Oxygen Berhad  and MAS Berhad’s rationalization of domestic routes with Air Asia Berhad.

Lim Hou Hock | Director, Finance
Lim Hou Hock is the Director, Finance of Danajamin. His responsibilities include overseeing the functions of Finance, Treasury, Administration and IT of the Company.

He started his career as an Assistant Manager of Corporate Finance and Capital Markets in OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd.  Subsequently, Hou Hock joined Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Melbourne, Australia as Senior Analyst in its Corporate Finance Division. At Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, he was involved in corporate advisory work for, amongst others, regional merger and acquisition, regional restructuring and global transaction services.

In 2001, he returned to Malaysia and became the Chief Financial Officer of Affin Investment Bank Berhad, a position which he held until he joined Danajamin. 

Hou Hock holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting and Finance) from Monash University (Clayton), Australia. He is also member of the Australian Society of CPAs and Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Rosli Shariff | Director, Human Resource
Rosli Shariff is the Director, Human Resource of Danajamin. He has extensive experience in human resource management having specialized in this area for the past 14 years of his career.  His experience encompasses talent management, organizational structure and design, compensation & benefits strategy, management and staff development as well as Industrial Relations.

Prior to joining Danajamin, he was Human Resource Director of Goodyear Malaysia Berhad.  Before that, Rosli served in Monier Roofing Tiles Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Lafarge Roofing Tiles Sdn Bhd) as Human Resource Director covering Malaysia Indonesia, and Thailand.   He had also served in several other organizations including Symphony House Berhad as Head, Group Human Resource and IBM Malaysia.

Rosli holds a degree in English Composition and Language with a minor in Economics from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, USA.

Poorani Ramachandran | Director, Internal Audit
Poorani Ramachandran is the Director, Internal Audit of Danajamin.

Poorani started her career in KPMG Peat Marwick, Singapore as an external auditor. Subsequently, she returned to Malaysia and briefly served at Jerneh Asia Berhad. Prior to joining Danajamin, Poorani was the Chief Internal Auditor of ING Insurance Berhad, ING Employee Benefits Bhd and ING Funds Berhad.  There she oversaw the management and operations of the internal audit operations and also supported other ING regional entities.

Poorani holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Finance (First Class Honours) and a Masters in Commerce majoring in Accounting from the Lincoln University, New Zealand. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, New Zealand and a Certified Internal Auditor and certified Quality Assessment by the Institute of Internal Auditors, United States.
