CYBERJAYA – Danajamin Nasional Berhad (“Danajamin”), the country’s first Financial Guarantee Insurer, announced that it is guaranteeing up to RM160.0 million of the first issuance of RM200.0 million Islamic Medium Term Notes (“IMTN”) issued by Brecon Synergy Sdn Bhd (“BSSB”) under its IMTN Programme of up to RM450.0 million.

The Principal Adviser, Lead Arranger and Lead Manager of the IMTN Programme is Maybank Investment Bank Berhad. The transaction was advised by Zico Capital Sdn Bhd, a specialised, corporate finance and capital markets advisory firm licensed by the Securities Commission Malaysia.

Proceeds from the IMTN shall be utilised to part-finance the acquisition cost of King Henry VIII College located in Cyberjaya. Commenting on the issuance, Mohamed Nazri Omar, Chief Executive Officer of Danajamin said, “We are proud to support another viable Malaysian company in raising its financing to grow and realise its full potential. This guarantee marks our support towards the education industry. We truly believe that the best sustainable future for decades to come, rests in the abilities and capabilities of our children. Through our guarantee, we hope to instill investor confidence and join Brecon Synergy Sdn Bhd in planting the seeds of tomorrow through their business objectives, as well as to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s society and economy.”

Speaking about the project, Datuk Benny Hoe, the Group Managing Director of Brecon Synergy Sdn Bhd (“BBSB”) said, “The principal activities of BSSB are providing education services and other learning facilities for study and research. BSSB entered into collaboration agreement with 1541 Ltd, a subsidiary of Christ College Brecon (“CCB”). King Henry VIII College in Cyberjaya is CCB’s first overseas sister-school and the school is built on its 478-year history, tradition and values, to ensure students develop a powerful sense of what they can achieve.”

The school welcomes day students and boarders since September 2018 and has more than 400 students to-date coming from over 22 different countries. By September 2019, the school is expected to cater to more than 500 students.

To date, Danajamin’s guarantees have assisted 39 issuances, with a total guarantee size of RM10.7 billion. The total market impact of these deals, through risk-sharing collaboration with partner banks, stands at RM21.2 billion.

MELAKA - Thirty (30) students from five schools in the states of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka recently earned their leadership stripes as they graduated from the Danajamin100 Leadership Programme. The programme is a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) initiative by Danajamin Nasional Berhad (“Danajamin”), in partnership with PINTAR Foundation (“PINTAR”).

To date, 90 students have graduated from the leadership programme which has been running since 2014. The holistic learning process goes beyond academic achievements. Danajamin100 focuses on three main elements, character building, leadership and professional skills development. The programme leverages on a variety of well-designed learning and debate engagements that will optimize each participants’ leadership promise and potential.

The graduation ceremony was attended by parents and several society leaders including the Head of Academic Management Sector, Negeri Sembilan Education Department, Hjh Radziah Binti Abdul Manap, PINTAR Board of Trustees, Datuk Dr. Mary Yap Kain Ching, Sabri Ab Rahman as well as the Chief Executive Officer of PINTAR, Karimah Tan Abdullah.

“As Malaysia’s first and only financial guarantee insurer, we are cognisant that every organisation should play a role in developing the nation and its society. Apart from creating confidence and\ providing access to the market on a daily basis, we feel that confidence should be instilled among the younger generation to enable access to quality education. Hence Danajamin100, which aligns to our business mandate. With our fourth graduation in place, we hope the programme will continue to equip these students with confidence and life lessons to nurture the leaders of tomorrow,” said Mohamed Nazri Omar, Chief Executive Officer of Danajamin.

Chief Executive Officer of PINTAR, Karimah Tan Abdullah shared, “With a vision to inspire the young generation to become responsible citizens through the PINTAR concept, PINTAR Foundation strives to continue building partnerships with organisations such as Danajamin Nasional Berhad to enhance the motivation and success of underperforming students through education. Danajamin100 has been an impactful programme. It has provided the 120 participants opportunities to develop their potential and hone skills that can pave a brighter future and contribute to the nation’s talent pool of future leaders."

As part of an enhancement to the Danajamin100 Leadership Programme, the graduated batch of students were tasked to conduct a Community Project to cultivate the spirit of community service. Students were grouped according to their schools and were provided with 3 months to plan and execute their projects. Despite having limited time, the students have successfully executed several meaningful projects that impacted their community. Projects conducted included providing assistance to orphans, old folks and the homeless, along with collaborating with their schools to run a tutorial program and organize a school-wide clean up activity.

During the graduation ceremony, Wan Nurazra Marsya Binti Wan Ahmad from SMK Kompleks KLIA was selected as the recipient of Anugerah Tokoh Danajamin100 – a special award in recognition of her outstanding participation and positive values created among her peers. Speaking about her experience, Wan Nurazra Marsya shared, “Danajamin100 has given me the motivation and courage to continuously strive for the best in order to achieve our dreams. Our graduation today marks the beginning of our life-long journey, and a step further to accomplishing more achievements once we step into the university. Although the journey is not going to be easy, but with the preparation and skills that Danajamin100 has equipped me with, I am confident that success is within our reach if we put an effort to it.”

Veteran singer, Datuk Zainal Abidin Mohamad also made an appearance as a keynote speaker to give students an uplifting talk, relating to his personal journey and achievements.

Currently, the programme runs for the fifth batch, involving thirty (30) students from Selangor. The fifth batch is slated for graduation by year 2020.
