8 SEPTEMBER 2016, CYBERJAYA – On 4th of September 2016, Danajamin Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s first financial guarantee insurer, held a charity run in support of autism awareness, in conjunction with its 7th Anniversary celebration. The inaugural run which took place in Persiaran Flora, Cyberjaya witnessed close to 800 runners participating comprising of Danajamin’s staff, family members, clients, business partners and members of the public.
The Danajamin Mighty7 Run was organised as part of Danajamin’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives where 50% of proceed collected from the registration fee will be channelled to upgrade the NASOM Vocational Centre in Bandar Puteri, Kelang. Just before the runners were flagged off, Danajamin’s Chief Executive Officer En. Mohamed Nazri Omar presented a mock cheque amounting to RM30, 225 to Ms Feilina S.Y Muhammad Feisol, Chairman of NASOM.
"Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is one of the pillars of our business. We aim to be an organization that successfully balance the importance of corporate objectives achievement alongside with the responsibility of contributing towards the development of our community. We have been supporting NASOM and championing autism awareness over the last three years. With the proceeds of this run which is channelled to NASOM, we hope to continue playing our role particularly in providing a conducive learning environment for autistic children," said Mohamed Nazri Omar.
Feilina S.Y Muhammad Feisol said, “Autism Spectrum Disorders are now recognized as neurobiologically based conditions. Individuals with autism require ongoing medical monitoring and care, as would any person with chronic medical condition. Not many people understand the challenges faced by those with autism, they sometimes struggle to have access to resources and assistance. Hence, NASOM is very thankful to have corporates coming forward to provide support, especially in helping to raise funds and public’s awareness on autism.”
Among the runners at the Danajamin Mighty7 Run is Sheela Samy Vellu, the current national record holder for Standard Chartered half marathon. “Charity Run like this has allowed people to contribute to those in need. This is one of many ways to help assist them (NASOM) to continue providing effective support and interventions for children with autism.”
Danajamin first provided assistance to the NASOM Vocational Centre in Bandar Puteri back in 2013 where the company had sponsored some repair and maintenance work for the centre. The proceeds from Danajamin Mighty7 Run will enable NASOM to further improve the facilities and ambience at the centre hence facilitate a safe and conducive learning environment for the children. Besides the centre in Bandar Puteri, Danajamin has also provided assistance to NASOM early intervention Centre in Setapak and NASOM Kota Bharu. NASOM currently has 19 centres nationwide with around 483 students ranging from 3 years old to 30 years of age.
Mohamed Nazri Omar also expressed his appreciations for the support given by all parties towards the run. The success of the Mighty7 Run has enabled Danajamin to celebrate the milestones that the company has achieved along the years in a more meaningful way.
